Finding the right size
When it comes to fencing, having the right equipment is essential for optimal performance and safety. Finding the correct size when you’re new to fencing or purchasing for a child can be overwhelming. To make this process easier, we have designed online size guides, but there are a few important factors to consider first.
Adults: If you’re buying your first fencing garments or transitioning from a different supplier, it’s important to measure yourself and follow our size guide. Please note our system uses imperial measurements for sizing.
Children: Fencing equipment sizes are not based on age groups like regular clothing. Therefore, it’s crucial to follow the size guides and instructions to determine the correct size. Many parents initially purchase slightly larger garments to allow room for growth and extend the usable life of the items.

Also, many products have specific size guides which are accessible on the page. Look for the Size Guide link on top right of the page. Clicking this will display the size guide for that product.
*Sizes can be compared by clicking on two or more of the size labels.
Clothing
Jackets: Our jackets are sized based on chest measurements, increasing 2” increments. If you find yourself between two sizes and prefer a tight fit, we recommend ordering the size that matches your measurement. For a standard fit, it’s advisable to order one size larger.
Breeches: Similar to jackets, our breeches sizes increase in 2” increments. The same guidelines apply here. If you prefer a tight fit and fall between two sizes, choose the size that matches your measurement. For a standard fit, order one size larger.
Plastrons: Plastrons are also sized by chest measurement but follow the small, medium, large & XL sizing system. Since plastrons are worn underneath your jacket and held in place by it, the fit is not as crucial as with your outer layer.
Lames: Lames are designed to fit over the same size of jacket and do not require separate sizing. Simply select the same size as your jacket when purchasing a lame.
Gloves: To determine your glove size, measure around your knuckles (excluding the thumb). The resulting measurement in inches will correspond to your glove size. We have provided a table for all the sizes we offer from 6.5-10.5 or small to large.
At Leon Paul, we understand the importance of finding the right fit for your fencing equipment. Our size guides and instructions are here to assist you in selecting the appropriate size, ensuring optimal comfort and performance.
